About Penny
Penny Zimmerman, MSPT, ATC, IMTC, is a Physical Therapist specializing in Integrative Manual Therapy and is the owner of Innovative Physical Therapy.
She graduated from University of Maryland with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education Teaching and also did the internship program to get her Certification in Athletic Training. Her Master's Degree is from University of Miami, FL in Physical Therapy. Penny worked for 3 years after graduation in Denver, Colorado in Sports Medicine and earned her Strength & Conditioning Certification.
Upon returning home to the Philadelphia suburbs, she worked at Riddle Rehabilitation Institute for 8 years where she was the Director of Sports Medicine and Supervisor of Outpatient Physical Therapy. Penny worked for CenterIMT from 2001 until 2010. She was the practice manager for the last two years. As a certified IMT therapist, Penny has integrated IMT into her physical therapy practice for all patients including pediatrics, adult, orthopedic and neurologic populations. In 2010 she took over the practice and is now the sole owner and operator of Innovative Physical Therapy. Penny has been an adjunct faculty member for Widener University's Doctorate Physical Therapy program since 1997.
Penny has been married to her husband Eric since 1998. They have two girls who are very active in sports and dance. Penny teaches conditioning classes at Broadway Bound Dance Academy in Media, Pennsylvania and she is also the Physical Therapist for their competition team. She takes at least 4-6 continuing education classes a year and firmly believes in learning the latest techniques and advancing her skill.
